At The Ohio State University, Andy was a member of the undergraduate student government. Prior to running for Recorder (2004, re-elected in 20
08), Andy served on the Kingston Township zoning board and took part in passing the Township's first zoning resolution, returning control of the zoning to the Township from the County. He has always supported strong local government.
Andy has never been endorsed in a primary by the Party or appointed to office. He has always won multi-person primaries, and then won in the general election. He is well-tested and successful on the ballot.
Andy was first elected to office in 2004 as the Delaware County Recorder. In the 2004 election, he had four-way opposition in the primary and opposition in the general election, winning both handily. Andy modernized the Delaware County Recorder's office and was one of the first in the state to add the electronic filing of documents. He also lowered budgets and came in under budget.
In 2008, the Democrats in Delaware County mounted their strongest campaign ever, and Andy won with 63.3% of the vote after out-working and out-raising many in his own party for other countywide seats.
The May 4, 2010 primary was a 6 person race where Brenner won the Republican nomination for State Representative from the 2nd district. On November 2, 2010, he won the general election with nearly 71% of the vote, receiving more votes in Delaware County than many of the state-wide candidates. Andy has worked hard as a State Representative.
Andy serves on the Ohio House Education, Rules and Reference, Local Government and Financial Institutions, Housing and Urban Development Committees. Andy also took time last summer and volunteered to serve on the Ohio House Ad Hoc Technology Committee where he looked into ways of modernizing our state government.
And of course, all of this means that Andy has a record of being conservative in office - he's not just saying he'll do it once he gets elected. He's actually done it!
