Childhood & Family

Andy Brenner grew up on a small farm in Northeastern Delaware County. At an early age, Andy learned the value of hard work by growing a garden and raising chickens and sheep for 4-H. Andy also spent years working on the family Cut-Your-Own Christmas tree farm. He has two younger siblings, his father is a retired civil engineer and his late mother was a homemaker (picture of Robert, Andrew and Dana Brenner at right; picture of Andrew, Melanie, Robert and Matthew Brenner pictured on their farm at left).

Andy graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in 1989.

Andy put himself through college by working at McDonald’s for 4 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University in 1993, majoring in marketing and economics. At OSU, Andy began his involvement in politics by becoming a member of College Republicans and Student Government, as well as Young Americans for Freedom. Upon graduation, Andy became an entrepreneur and spent 12 years in the private sector. He managed small mortgage and real estate development companies, had to make payroll and dealt with government regulations as a business owner.

As a child, Andy was baptized at Grace Episcopal Church on Bowman Street in Mansfield, Ohio.  Today, Andy is a member of the men's club at St Joan of Arc in Powell.
